#8: Liesl & Po - Lauren Oliver

(If graphic doesn't load, refresh page.)

Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice—until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone.
That same night, an alchemist's apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable
Will's mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po, and it draws the three of them together on an extraordinary journey.

Author Bio:
Lauren Oliver was previously an editorial assistant at a publishing company in New York. A graduate of the University of Chicago and the MFA Program at New York University, she is now a full-time writer. She divides her time between Brooklyn, New York, and anywhere her friends will let her crash on their sofas. She enjoys reading, writing, cooking, running, dancing, and yes, long walks on the beach (or, more practically, along New York City streets). Please visit her on the web at www.laurenoliverbooks.com.

If you want to read this book for free, you can online at HarperCollins Children's Books. It is available until January 31st.

My Opinion:
Ironically in the very last chapter, it is mentioned to be "Opposites Day". Well, it actually is "Opposites Day" while I am writing this review. Weird, right?!
This book is so much fun to read. Whether you're a kid or an adult, you will fall in love with the characters, and feel a need to read as the story progresses with much action, adventure and mystery.
I flew through this story, I really just couldn't get enough. And as I sit here now, thinking about it, I feel bad it didn't keep going.
People are really going to love this magical adventure, I promise you that!

  3. I have begun reading Liesl and Po and really am enjoying it! Have you listened to the audio excerpt? I love the narrator! He uses a wonderful accent for Po that just brings him to life! I'd love to have this book on audio!
